The Effects of Forest Accessibility on the Quantitative and Qualitative Characteristics of Deadwood: A Comparison between Recreational and Natural Forests

Deadwood is one of the main structural features forest ecosystems and plays an important role in nutrient cycle, maintaining production environmental heterogeneity, acts as indicator for assessing biodiversity ecosystems. This research was conducted with aim evaluating quantitative qualitative characteristics deadwood according to influence accessibility indicators a comparison between natural recreational forests. The studied area divided into three classes based on slope gradient range, direction towards nearest road, road type, distance from road. These were: Easy-recreational (RE-F), Medium-natural 1 (NA-F1), Difficult-natural 2 (NA-F2). In each class, transects (750 × 50 m) were established, groups (snag, log, stump) recorded along their volume calculated. results analysis variance show that has significant effect presence deadwood. number snags, logs dead stumps per hectare higher NA-F2 than NA-F1 RE-F. investigated classes, had highest lowest hectare, respectively. snag longevity index (= log volume/snag volume) decreased accessibility.
